My first day of PT was Wednesday. I could barely bend my knee without it feeling like my kneecap was going to pop out again - even with the help of the Percoset. But, I made a little progress and on Friday I could bend it a little more. It feels like it will be a decade before I'm up and running around again!

Story on the Redwoods in National Geographic

I read this fascinating profile on the Redwood forest in CA in the October 2009 issue of National Geographic. This pull out photo was one of the most amazing as you can see a number of people interspersed throughout the span of the tree. Awesome! It was also fascinating to find out the composition of the upper (oldest) branches is not just wood, but many other things as well living up there - salamanders, murrelets, canopy soil, chipmunks, hemlocks, etc.

Acriflavine for Cancer?
Good Drink!

This cartoon reminded me of DA last night! After hosting my first baby shower in the clubhouse, we ordered a bunch of pizza and had some folks over to watch the Chad Dawson-Glen Johnson II fight. The first fight ended with a TKO in the 3rd but the main fight was pretty boring. Dawson won almost every round as he was just faster and Johnson looked his age.
Fear The Bone Eater!!

Another great Syfy movie production! The title of the movie refers to an American Indian demon that rises from the dead and terrorizes people in a small town. Thankfully, this movie didn't make it into theaters so more people wouldn't think that American Indians like to kill people and eat their bone marrow. No idea why it doesn't head out to a bigger city since it's so hungry. It also has these 5 bones dangling from its waist making it look like it has 5 appendages. Weird! The tagline for the movies is "There will be no leftovers!" Geez! Which reminds me - it's lunchtime. Honey, pass the bone marrow!

Movies and Shows This Week

We also saw the Guy Ritchie film Rock n Rolla that had a gross druggie at the center of the story - so it was hard to cheer for him. Overall, the film was good. Also, saw The Times of Harvey Milk that had lots of old footage of him and I liked it a lot. Alexander with Colin Farrell, Land of the Lost with Will Ferrell, and GI Joe Rise of the Cobra were terrible. Dexter continues to rock! I can't wait for the end of Trinity! And the new V just started - I think MH wet his pants he was so excited. Geek alert!
The Grizzly Man
I watched the documentary of Timothy Treadwell (aka The Grizzly Man) by Werner Herzog last night. This guy spent 13 summers living up close and personal with Grizzly Bears in Alaska and ultimately was killed by one of them. The way the guy talked reminded me of a surfer (a little annoying at times) and he was crazy like one for trying to live with these wild animals. But, he sure seemed genuine in his love for them. I've always liked Werner Herzog films and he did a nice job of putting this documentary together with participation from Treadwell's family.
Evolution Program

I watched this very interesting program on Evolution last night based on the archaeological digs and findings of Lucy and even older pre-human fossils in East and West Africa. I thought for only a 60 min program it was very well done and from what I've read on the subject, pretty accurate. It even had a little hominid character that reminded me of EH!
