Konop Payout!

I just have to document the fact that Konop lost a bet and I actually got the payout! As requested, I spent it on underwear and light beer.

The Fat Suit Study

This poster was one of the more interesting/random posters I saw at the conference. I thought for sure that Tyra Banks would be an author.

Mini-Purdue Reunion

I had dinner with my former Purdue colleagues and my wife at where else - The Cheesecake Factory. The guys and I also had dinner a few nights before at PF Chang's, so we were hitting up all the high end dining places out in the desert! It's always good to see Drs. Barker and Watts, but I was sad to hear that the Friday afternoon Hunter's Pub lunch ritual is no more!

Marriott Anaheim

I spent a week at the always spectacular Anaheim Marriott for the 2010 Experimental Biology conference. One of the best things about the location is that it is only a 2 minute walk to a Ruth's Chris Steakhouse! I really wish they would bring it back to SF or someplace more exotic next time, but it was still good to get out and interact with all the other science nerds for a week. Being in such a remote location does make it less distracting and harder to find reasons not to attend all of the sessions. However, I was pleasantly surprised by the quality and variety of the talks and the new stuff that was presented.

Pruning Trees

I went over today to help my mom and Aunt Connie prune the trees lining her fence. I can't believe my aunt had been doing this herself for the past 20 years. That woman is amazing. I hadn't done anything like landscaping since I was painting houses during my summer break from college. I'm glad I don't have to do that for a living - yet. Afterwards, mom and I went down the street for burgers! Deeelicious!

I Have Issues

If this store had been open, I was planning to get this goose for our living room. I thought it would coordinate well with our sofa and color scheme.

Mom's Visit to SF

We dad a kickass dinner at a little Thai restaurant with Mom, Kimberly, and The Hunny up in Noe Valley. We then went back up to Clipper Street for a nightcap and some dessert

John Tesh and Oprah Date

I still think the John Tesh and Oprah dating story is pretty amusing and this is what I imagine the end of an evening was like...

Azebeebo!!

Someone somewhere thinks he's #1!!

LLS Giants Game Fundraiser

We had some sweet nosebleed and bleacher seats for the Giants game for the 50 people that showed up for our fundraising party! I could barely make out the "Giants Welcome Team Drury-Lightning" on the scoreboard, but it was there. We raised over $1200 at this event - too bad the Giants lost....

Thank you Leslie

The Borkbergs always come up with some interesting gifts for me on my birthday. I'm pretty sure this one will not get as much use as last year's gift.

Carleton Chemistry Party

We hosted a fantastic crew of Carleton alums as well as current students and even 3 professors during the weeklong ACS conference being held in SF.

Dinner with the Smiths and Ryan

Good times followed by even sweeter dance moves after dinner!

Remembering George

It was great getting together with the GFOG crew at The Washbag on St. Paddy's Day to remember our good friend George.

1st Birthday Dinner

It was a great night in SF for my birthday dinner at home - huge steaks and lots of wine.

The Kings of King Street

Resting after their morning feast and exercise.

2nd Birthday Dinner

Sweet birthday dinner at Morac with great friends!

Pelosi's Visit to SF

I had the opportunity to see Nancy Pelosi speak at the Fairmont Hotel. I thought she was decent, but her eyes never stopped blinking which makes me suspicious. And, she was definitely not as eloquent with her arguments as The Gav was with his.

Chewbacca

I will definitely be looking for this guy at the next Folsom Street Fair!

Item at Ross

Gathering up supplies at Ross for one of our fundraising parties, we came across this interesting little item.

M is for Mrs. Miller Lite

Jenny is going to love using this sweet wine glass on her visits to SF.

Dr. Smith Comes to San Francisco

Had a great time catching up with Sean and Mykel during their visit to SF. We had a blast at the opening party for the LLS campaign at the Sir Francis Drake.

The Ball of Justice

I'm sure this is what Marvel Comics had in mind for the Superfriends' home office and holiday party!

Green Festival Poster

Finally, the Indian gets most of the space on a page!! Thank goodness for the huge headdress!!

The Lightnings and Mayor Newsom

I thought I used more gel than anyone in SF, but I guess I was wrong!!! Mayor Newsom was great in conversation at the Commonwealth Club last night too!
